Course Descriptions
SPRING Mini Sessions & Short Courses:
Hip, Hip, Hurray! Hip Openers with Mary
The hip area can be a repository of holding and tension on many levels of our being resulting in tightness and constriction. Come explore various postures that slowly ease this all important area into opening and release. Level II and up.
Yoga and The Energy Field with Jill
This course will use the asanas as the framework to access a deeper understanding of the energy field. Prana is the subtle energy that supports us. We will identify it through awareness that comes when we identify its characteristics.
Gentle Yoga with Suzanne
A gentler approach to the poses for those who are stiff or injured or who would like to ease into the poses at a softer pace.
Low Back Health & Relief / Hip Opening with Mary
A continuation of the exploration into hip opening and its contribution to the release of lower back discomfort and pain as well as the maintenance of health in that area. Additional emphasis will be placed upon lengthening and then strengthening asanas to encourage overall lower back health and vitality.
EARLY MORNING Level III with Giulia
Level III asanas, including inversions.
Introductory with Maggie
An introduction to the Iyengar method for students new to yoga, or to our style.
Asana (Posture)
Level I
Level I classes introduce beginning students and students new to the Iyengar approach to the fundamentals of posture and breath. As a general rule, we do notpermit beginners to enroll after the fourth week of the session.
Level I/II
Level I/II classes are for students who have completed Level I and prefer a gradual transition to Level II. This level is also ideal for those with previous yoga experience who are new to the Iyengar approach.

Level II

Level II Classes are for the students who have completed the introductory (Level I) course. The basic poses will be refined with an emphasis on all the standing poses. Inverted poses (headstand, plow, and shoulderstand) will be introduced.
Level II/III

Level II/III classes are, as the name suggests, combined classes for students of both levels.

A minimum of one year of study and practice of asana in the Iyengar method is required before enrolling in the pranayama class.
Level II, III, IV
Level II, III, IV classes are for students who have completed the preceding levels.
Level V
Level V is strictly for students who have completed Level IV or have received extensive Iyengar training in pranayama elsewhere.
Level VI
Level VI classes are for students who have extensive Iyengar training and have been practicing digital pranayama for three years or more.
