ASANA CLASSES

Introductory Series is a three- or four - week progression that introduces the fundamentals of Iyengar Yoga. (You must enroll for the entire series.)
Level I classes introduce beginning students and students new to the Iyengar approach to the fundamentals of posture and breath.
Level I/II classes are for students who have completed Level I and prefer a gradual transition to Level II. This level is also ideal for those with previous yoga experience who are new to the Iyengar approach.
Level II classes are for the students who have completed the introductory (Level I) course. The basic poses will be refined with an emphasis on all the standing poses. Inverted poses (headstand, plow, and shoulderstand) will be introduced.
Level II/III classes are, as the name suggests, combined classes for students of both levels.
Level III classes are for students with previous Iyengar training who are strong in standing poses and can do headstand, shoulderstand, and plow with confidence.

SPECIAL CLASSES

Gentle I classes are for new or continuing students who, because they may be stiff, not very strong, or have a particular limitation, would prefer and/ or benefit from a more slowly paced, less rigorous class. Appropriate for pre- and postnatal students as well. May be joined at any time.
Gentle II classes are for students with Iyengar experience who have physical limitations requiring special care, but who are capable of progressing beyond the beginner syllabus. No new beginners after the fourth week of the session.
Restorative Yoga class is open to new and continuing students. Benefit from relaxing supported asanas and directed breathing to reduce tension, improve circulation, quiet the nervous system and support the immune system. For one hour, each week, this class will help you deal with fatigue and stress; We will explore how to create a greater balance between the stillness in body and mind. Through the poses, we will use the breath as a means to both discipline and quiet the mind; drawing individual awareness and reflection into the body, to increase concentration insight into your Self. Get ready for the weekend with a sense of calm and a freedom from stress.
Back Care class emphasizes poses that improve stability and flexibility of the spine and hips by lengthening and strengthening supporting muscles groups. Includes observations/amelioration of postural habit patterns, and the use of the breath to calm the mind and reduce stress and pain. Physician's approval strongly encouraged.
Seniors' Yoga is a gently paced class designed specifically for seniors. It approaches asanas in ways that enhance strength, suppleness and balance, and covers a wide variety of poses, and includes restoration and guided breathing. This class may be joined at any time.
Pregnancy / Prenatal classes offer safe and supportive yoga poses suitable for pregnancy and for those who are considering pregnancy, including those who are currently undergoing fertility treatments. Emphasis will be on asanas which can strengthen the pelvic muscles and reproductive system as well as maintain physical and mental well-being. Pregnant women should obtain permission of their physician/midwife prior to the start of the prenatal class.
Yoga and Meditation seamlessly combines two practices which enhance our capacity to appreciate life and weather its storms. Each class will combine physical practice of asanas with a period of seated mindfulness practice. Prerequisite: Completion of Level I, or a year's practice of any other style of yoga.

PRANAYAMA CLASSES

Pranayama I class affords those people who are seriously interested in working with breath an opportunity to move beyond the elementary levels that have been incorporated into the regular asana classes. A minimum of one year of study and practice of asana in the Iyengar method is required before enrolling in the pranayama class.
Pranayama II, III, IV classes are for students who have completed the preceding levels.
Pranayama V is strictly for students who have completed Level IV or have received extensive Iyengar training in pranayama elsewhere.
Pranayama VI classes are for students who have extensive Iyengar training and have been practicing digital pranayama for two years or more.
